Budget Office, Veterans Affairs Still Haven’t Published Open Government Plans

By Daniel Schuman

Fifty-eight days after the White House required federal agencies to publish open government plans, six out of 29 agencies still have not complied. Most troubling, the Office of Management and Budget refused to comment for a news story on when it expects to release its open government plan. The agency also failed to release a plan in 2012. By comparison, the Department of State indicated publication was "close." There is no word on the Department of Veterans Affairs or several lower profile agencies.

Since our last review two weeks ago, the only improvement is that the Small Business Administration fixed a broken link. While we do not wish to shortchange those agencies that met the June 1 deadline, or subsequent improvements since we began monitoring, the long delay is troubling. We will continue to monitor compliance.
