CREW and Defenders of Wildlife File MMS FOIA Request For Records of Pre-Spill Safety and Health
Washington, D.C. - Today CREW and the Defenders of Wildlife sent a FOIA request to the Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Service (MMS) seeking records that would shed light on the extent to which MMS considered the environmental impact and danger to public safety and health from an oil spill of the magnitude that has occurred in the Gulf of Mexico before granting BP a permit to drill for oil.
The FOIA request also seeks documents related to any change in MMS policies and guidance concerning compliance with federal environmental and natural resources laws in light of the BP oil spill. Click here to read CREW's FOIA request.
