Crew Files Amicus Brief in Support of Judiciary Committee in Lawsuit Against Miers & Bolten
Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), along with The Brennan Center for Justice, Judicial Watch and The Rutherford Institute, filed an amicus (friend of the court) brief in Committee on the Judiciary v. Miers, a lawsuit brought to compel Josh Bolten and Harriet Miers to comply with subpoenas issued by the Judiciary Committee as part of its investigation into the firing of U.S. Attorneys.
The brief argued that, contrary to the defendants' position, the court must exercise jurisdiction over the case to ensure the separation of powers that is at the core of our constitutional scheme.
