CREW Joins Open Government Groups Calling For Congressional Hearing on Public Online Information Act
Washington, D.C. - Today, CREW and 26 open-government advocates called on Congress to hold hearings on the proposed Public Online Information Act (POIA), which would require broad, easy online access to public government information. The POIA would mandate the Executive Branch to permanently post public records and would create an advisory committee to develop government-wide disclosure policies.
By significantly easing access to government information, the POIA would dramatically improve the publics’ ability to advocate for transparent and accountable government practices.
