CREW Files FOIA Request With U.S. Coast Guard to Determine How Prepared Government Was for Oil Spill

Washington, D.C. - Today CREW sent a FOIA request to the U.S. Coast Guard seeking documents concerning training exercises and other studies and assessments the Coast Guard has conducted or participated in to prepare for an oil spill of national significance. CREW is also seeking documents pertaining to Shoreline Clean-up Assessment Teams and their efforts in the Gulf of Mexico.

Because the requested records will shed light on the extent to which the Coast Guard and the federal government were prepared for a catastrophe like the BP oil spill and how their preparation could be improved for the future, CREW is requesting expedition of its request.
