Open Government Advocates Urge Changes to Open Government Directive
Washington, D.C. - Today, CREW and six other open government groups sent a letter to Federal Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra, outlining recommendations to the administration's Open Government Directive to agencies to post high value data sets to Data.gov.
The group's letter pressed for a narrower definition of what constitutes "high value" data, for data sets to be published in more user-friendly formats, and for the implementation of a public feedback mechanism to identify data sets that are non-functional or that contain glitches. The letter also identified the need to add public representatives to the directive's working committee to help implement these and other recommendations.
