CREW Files FOIA with Dept. of Energy Regarding Solyndra
Today, CREW sent a Freedom of Information Act request to the Department of Energy seeking records of communications between the Obama White House and Energy regarding Solyndra, a California-based manufacturer of solar panels. Energy selected Solyndra for a $535 million DOE loan guarantee and subsequently allowed the company to refinance that loan under terms that allowed investors that put in new money to be repaid before taxpayers. Solyndra has now suffered a financial collapse and is the subject of a criminal investigation by the FBI. CREW seeks the documents to learn the extent to which the White House influenced Energy’s selection of Solyndra for such favorable treatment.
