CREW Files Reply in Support of Petition to Deny Renewal of News Corp.‘s Fox Broadcast Licenses
Today CREW filed a reply in support of its petition to deny the license renewal applications of three News Corp.-owned and controlled television stations in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. CREW’s petition is based on the egregious and conscience-shocking behavior of News Corp. and James and Rupert Murdoch, which bears directly on the character of the three Fox subsidiaries.

As CREW pointed out, character is one of the most basic qualifications for a broadcast license, and past misconduct is a good predictor of whether a licensee will comply with the Communications Act and FCC regulations and policies. In arguing against CREW’s petition, Fox essentially claimed character is not relevant and attempted to distant itself from the actions of its parent News Corp.
CREW’s reply together with its initial petition identify the wealth of evidence that News Corp. and Fox should no longer hold broadcast licenses in the United States.
