CREW Files FOIA Request with DOJ Seeking OLC Opinions Regarding FBI’s Use of Drones

DOJ logoToday, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed a FOIA request with the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) seeking all OLC opinions that discuss the authority of the FBI to use drones to conduct surveillance for any purpose.  CREW made this request in the wake of the revelation by FBI Director Robert Mueller in testimony before Congress that the FBI has, in the past, used drones to conduct domestic surveillance.  CREW seeks the documents to assist the public in understanding and evaluating the lawfulness of the FBI’s drone use.
