White House (night)

17 Apr 2007 // Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Office of Administration (OA), a component of the Executive Office of the President (EOP), based on information CREW has received from a confidential source.

CREW's FOIA seeks:

1) Copies of analyses prepared between the fall of October 2005 andthe fall of October 2006 that include estimates of how many emails are missing from EOPs record-keeping system

2) Copies of spreadsheets prepared between 2005 and September 2006 that ouline the dates of all missing email from EOP's email record-keeping system

3) Risk assessments prepared in 2002 or 2003 of EOP's email records management system, including an assessment of the risk to public perception from disclosure of problems with the email system

4) All requests for proposal issued by the Office of Administration to address EOP's email records management

CREW asked that its request be expedited in light of the urgency to inform the public about the email record-keeping practices of the White House.

On April 18, 2007, CREW sent a follow-up FOIA request to the OA clarifying and supplementing its request of April 17, 2007. The follow-up request identifies more specifically the analyses, assessments, spreadsheets and other documents it is seeking that relate to the loss of EOP email records.
