Ted Stevens
Melanie makes the point that, after the FBI raid on his home, Senator Stevens should step down from his post on the Appropriations Committee where he oversees the budget of the Department of Justice:

Bushco, Giuliani work out
Bushco, Giuliani work out deal
Rove has a new strategy: bushco will push Giuliani who will campaign as an outsider come to clean up Washington corruption. The fiasco in Iraq, which will only get worse, makes Giuliani’s 9/11 credentials of marginal importance. Bushco evades prosecution for their crimes if Giuliani wins, who will of course be properly grateful to bushco or else.
This could be interesting. If Giuliani is to convince voters he is a clean Republican, he will have to come on as a crusader against corruption. Very tricky. What does Rove have up his sleeve now, one wonders.
