Bush spokesperson said no GOPers with ethics scandals will run in 2008
Well this is interesting:
Ed Gillespie, President Bush's counselor and a former chairman of the Republican Party, acknowledged that ethical scandals have hurt the GOP. He predicted that by 2008, the party "will not have candidates who have any kind of ethical considerations that will be a concern to the voters."
Does this mean the GOP is going to prevent Ted Stevens and Pete Domenici from running for re-election? What about Jerry Lewis and John Doolittle, among others, in the House?
Think Gillespie is very wrong!
I disagree with Ed Gillespie. I feel that a corrupt majority outshouted an uncorrupt minority. For example, Senator McCain has lost many ethics battles, including the McCain Feingold Campaign Finance Bill that had to be severely diluted in order for it to be passed. Also, Senator McCain began speaking-out against President Putin and his FSS/FSB and the Republican Party's support of him in 2003 (reposted to the net here): http://eng.terror99.ru/publications/119.htm. I might personally have issues with McCain because I am Pro-Choice, but I too, can't look past that he's a vet at a time when the US is in combat in Afghanistan and Iraq, and had the horrible experience of being a POW when the Bush Administration just gave the green light to torturing terrorist suspects.
As a whole McCain has a history of working well with Democrats to get things done. He's much less of a bullsh*tter than the less corrupt Republican minority. Finally, I have a very good idea what is to be made public that led to Ed Gillepsie's statements. The longer the former Republican leadership fights US DOJ, the more time passes for the Dems to show whether they are equal or better than their Republican counterparts. Already, the Cunningham corruption probe is half Democrat wrongdoers! Unfortunately for the Dems, they've done far too little in the 9 months they've been in office and the little legislation they're passed and introduced unrelated to ethics bills was written by lobbyists just as the Republicans had done. For example, since when would it be appropriate to write bills that fix federal programs to specific tech standards and prohibit the trying of newer and better tech standards to make the programs better? The answer is never if the US truly has a mission to technologically remain many steps ahead of its enemies, but because the Dems expect the inventors of new tech standards to bribe them in campaign coffers just like their Republican counterparts, the Dems support former Republican legislation prohibiting federal programs from becoming more effective and secure. This means federal programs have no initiative to improve upon themselves.
While members of Congress and presidential candidates shake-down tech inventors for campaign contributions as a requirement to secure federal pilots and RnD grants, our enemies...nations that aren't democracies such as China and Russia aren't extorting money, but instead are offering it. They're making funding and buyout offers to tech inventors. The outcome is that members of Congress--Democrats included because they demand bribes be paid, are extraditing the US' inventions to nations that when the inventions are defense solutions, will use those inventions against Americans. The US federal government is the most corrupt government in the world and very soon news emerging from US DOJ will prove this to be the case. If the Dems think that they're to sit all high and mighty when this news comes-out that makes the Republicans look bad, they better be prepared for my mouth to shoot-off, because when it comes to my company, the Dems perpetuated the same policy to extradite it to non-democracies as the Republicans had done. I will be pointing to specific legislation introduced under a Dem-led Congress to prove my points.
Finally, as for Gillespie's comment, I beg to differ. Rather, the news coming-out will make room for new blood where the new freshman class of Republicans will have the mistakes of their predecessors to reflect upon.
McCain and Abramoff
I recommend taking a closer look at McCain's "would-be" investigation of Abramoff. That official inquiry was essentially a Republican cover up.
Take a close look at McCain's campaign contributions and compare those to Abramoff's activities. The parallels are striking.
Also, take a close look at Gillespie's involvement in the firing of United States attorney Carol Lam. What was Gillespie's role as Tenet Healthcare's lobbyist in resolution of the legal and criminal charges Lam pursued? Why did this litigation resolve so favorably to the defendants?
Brave Talk
Futile words from Gillespie. Soon the indictments born of DOJ investigations will start coming out, and the roof is going to fall in on bushco, the GOP, Mr. Dick Cheney, Mr. George W. Bush and kindred. Gonzales could not stop the process and has fled the scene.
There is a terrific story here. The US Attorney's affair will be seen in its true context: how it served to neutralize Gonzales and focus the spotlight on the DOJ so that the investigations could not be strangled by bushco. The resignations from the DOJ starting with Kyle Sampson and ending with Gonzales are the fruit of that strategy. The strategy worked, so brace yourself against the shock that is coming. Investigations of the Abramoff-Delay-Cunningham-Wilkes-Foggo and other affairs are maturing and the first indictments from these investigations soon will be filed in the courts. These will be ugly beyond all imagination....there are even hints of treason. Once started, the indictments will not quit because plea bargains and future investigations will lead from indictment to indictment as a chain reaction devours bushco and the GOP.
The story gets even more terrific: for several years the investigators had a mole in the White House who wore a wire and who gathered information and documents. Those five million lost emails? Surprise! These are not all lost and will serve as the basis for criminal prosecution of scores inside and outside the administration.. It is all tied together- the corruption, the loot from the Iraq fiasco, the frauds, the criminal spying by NSA and others for political purposes- everything will be documented and exposed by informants and plea-bargainers.
George W. Bush is trying hard to portray himself as the victim of sinister forces. This can not be sustained and the truth will come out. The real sinister force is his weak stupidity. Do not be surprised if there follows from this business the criminal indictment of the President of the United States.
No Republican officeholder will be clear of the voter's reaction as the ugliness comes out. In their fury, the voters will be ready to believe anything said against you, simply because you are incumbent GOP. The old advantage has now become a liability: the bigger your war chest, the worse you will appear in the eyes of the voter. GOP as in Grease Our Palm.
