CREW releases "Beyond DeLay: The 22 Most Corrupt Members of Congress (and two to watch)"
Today, CREW released its third annual report on the most corrupt members of Congress entitled Beyond DeLay: The 22 Most Corrupt Members of Congress (and two to watch). This encyclopedic report on corruption in the 110th Congress documents the egregious, unethical and possibly illegal activities of the most tainted members of Congress. CREW has compiled the members’ transgressions and analyzed them in light of federal laws and congressional rules.
CREW also has re-launched the report’s tandem website, www.beyonddelay.org. The site offers short summaries of each member’s transgressions as well as the full-length profiles and all accompanying exhibits. Over the next couple weeks, Citizens Blogging will profile the members who made the list, although many will continue to show up in our daily posts because they are making news.

Uphold the Constitution
Members of the Armed Forces, who have sworn to uphold the constitution, protect against all enemies, both foreign and domestic, and obey the orders of the officers appointed over him/her are in a bad situation.
What should a military member do, if the Commander in Chief is not upholding the oath of office, is amassing greater and greater powers within the executive branch, and using these powers in direct violation of the constitution?
Does this not also make the military member an accomplice?
Seems to me that the military member is placed into a loop and would need to sue the President. Because the military member is placed in a position, unable to fulfill the oath of enlistment and obey the orders of the Commander in Chief, at the same time.
But what would the precise law suit (or other legal action) be?
Comments?
Representative corruption
I guess that it all depends on your particular interests, i.e., whose "ox is being gored". As long as the Constitution is ignored, as law of the land, when it comes to the rightful concerns of government, what you call "corruption" is just a part of the game. The solution is, of course, a return to basics. How to do that? Today we have what may be America's last chance, a vote for Ron Paul. Who is he really? See http://bigeye.com/ronpaul.htm
corruption
Those who allowing the debacle in the desert to continue are corrupt!
Politicians Are Corrupt By Nature
Your research missed Obama who has a land dealing in Chicago with Antoin "Tony" Rezko which is highly questionable and at least on par with some of the scandals you mentioned. Hillary of course Has Whitewater in her background, so asking what scandal was related to her shows ignorance of politics to say the least. I suppose you mean recent scandals. I am sure if we actually researched every politician in Washington we would probably find a skeleton or two so cherry picking a few is questionable behavior. I suppose Barney Frank allowing a prostitution ring to be operated out of his apartment is not corruption as he was not prostituting himself. But then he is a Democrat and you expect hedonistic behavior from them just like you expect Republicans to act like pharisees.

Summaries
I suggest that readers of the reports pull up the full report on each member. Some of the reports are a bit thin -- Pete Domenici's misconduct is limited to the pressure on U.S. attorney David Iglesias. But others (e.g., McConnell & Stevens) are a treasure trove of information on shady deals. Some of the summaries don't come close to suggesting the full scope of the venality identified in the reports!
Great job, but I think the single charge against Domenici does not qualify him to be included in this band of scoundrels.
No Hillary?!!?
After the HSU thing, and Hillary isn't on the list?
No Hillary
What corruption did Sen. Clinton commit? Accepting campaign donations is not a crime, (though some want to make it so) even if they were corruptly collected (assuming the politician did not direct or have knowledge of the crimes committed by the collector). As far as I know, there is no such allegation regarding the Senator.
SORRY ABOUT THAT - but it is
at least when the money is being paid by a party to litigation in return for ex parte contacts to the judge presiding over the litigation for the purpose to intimidate him/her to obstruct justice, i.e. rule against the non-payor. CSI-Jacksonville has uncovered the largest bribery scheme in the history of the United States with $2.5 million paid to or for the benefit of elected officials, including Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Senator Bill Nelson, Barbara Boxer, James Sensenbrenner, Thomas Feeney. As a result 405,000 patients diagnosed with fulminant liver failure died needlessly during the last 17 years because the litigation attempted to recover $2 million earmarked for clinical trials of a remedy - money a New York organized crime family defrauded the scientist of. Oh well, but then in the U.S. nobody really cares.
Add Feinstein to the corrupt list!!
Sept 18
What about Senator Dianne Feinstein??
While on the MILCON subcommitte, Feinstein voted for appropriations worth billions of dollars to firms owned by her husband, Richard C. Blum. This included millions of dollars in contracts awarded to Blum's Perini Corporation to provide goods and services in Iraq and Afghanistan.
As the ranking Democratic, Feinstein would have again become chair of the MILCON subcommittee when the Democratically controlled Senate of the 110th Congress was sworn in on January 4, 2007. However, Feinstein resigned from the subcommittee prior to the new congressional term, forfeiting chairmanship of the MILCON subcommittee to Tim Johnson. Metro Newspapers reported that Feinstein's resignation was attributable to a series of articles, partially funded by the progressive Nation Institute, exposing the potential conflict of interest posed by Feinstein's voting to award contracts to her husband's firms.
What about Senator Kleagle?
You're telling me that Byrd didn't make the list??
Anonymous at 2:48
Gee, do you think that CREW had some methodology for this list other than what Byrd was doing 50 years ago? I think that maybe, just maybe, they might have different criteria than that.
Say, you weren't just throwing a standard smear out there, even it pretty clearly has nothing to do with this list, were you? No, I'm sure you would never.
Where are all the corrupt
Where are all the corrupt Dems on your list? Huh? Oh, that's right - they are untouchables; like Kennedy and the guy with the "cold cash" in his freezer! Ever heard of someone drowning in your car while you sober up? Or banks?
Cold cash is William Jefferson....
And if you knew the name of the guy who had cash in the fridge your complaint about partisan bias would be better grounded.
Where are all the corrupt
Oh good one - played the Chappaquidick card 40 years later! Unbelievable!
Bill
Rep. William J. Jefferson (D-LA)
I believe that Rep. William J. Jefferson (D-LA), who had all that "cold Cash" in on the list. Did you perhaps overlook his name? Or, were your reading skills blinded by your political bias?
"Cold Cash'?
Your point would be better made if you'd bothered to read the list, 'cold cash' is there: Rep. William J. Jefferson (D-LA)
You Repugs make rebuttal sooooooo easy. ;-)

Diane Fienstein?
Shockingly, this liberal flavored list excluded Diane Fienstein (spelling?), who has steered close to $1 billion dollars to her husband's defense firms, or the new flow of pork that has gone out to San Francisco since Queen Bee Pelosi took over Congress and did absolutely nothing she promised to do.
I am surprised they even put William Jefferson on here, it must have pained them to have to put a Democrat on the list, even one who is arguably the filthiest member of Congress.
