Dana Milbank: Stevens "blamed his wife"
Tough analysis of opening arguments in the trial of U.S. Senator Ted Stevens. The defendant's lawyer blamed the defendant's wife:
Sen. Ted Stevens, his career and his freedom in jeopardy, did the honorable thing as he went on trial yesterday on corruption-related charges. He blamed his wife.
Yes, Stevens, the first sitting senator to be indicted in a generation, failed to report a home renovation and other pricey gifts from a pipeline company. But, his lawyer told the jury yesterday, it was his wife who reviewed the bills and took care of the finances.
"You have to look at the relationship between Ted and Catherine, because it says something about what happened here," superlawyer Brendan Sullivan declared. In fact, he said, the Stevens family has a saying: "When it comes to things around the tepee, the wife controls. That might seem old-fashioned, but Ted Stevens is old-fashioned."
And rather ungallant.
Could you be any more obvious?
Where is the report on Willima Jefferson et al? As a democrat, I say you people are a major embarassment to rational thinking people. Do you mean to say that there is not one unethical democrat in office worthy of a report?
Theis is a Crew of Crap!
Report on Jefferson?
Obviously you don't bother to read CREW, except to jump in and throw s@@t. Please review their most corrupt congressmen...you will find more than one dem. Then realise that not all are like limbaugh, faux news, o'reily, hannity, and the rest of their ilk.
Heather Wilson and ethics?
I watched this woman talk on TV about the role McCain was playing in the DC drama of the economy. She LIED flat out about what he did and about what Obama did for the sake of making McCain look good to gain votes. This is an ethical person? I think not. Thank you for helping me be more distrustful of the Republican ilk. I am praying mightily right now that God strikes out the lying tongues of all you people who have been a party to this fascist Bush administration and continue to pull dirty tricks to keep a Republican in office to continue the fascism. God will make sure the truth comes out. God is not for lies and deceptions. I have faith and you should be trembling. Amen.

Being old-fashioned doesn't hold-up in sex discrimination lawsui
...And Stevens was quoted in 1999 in Time as saying: women don't support defense spending as much as men because women prefer to spend money on "touchy-feely things."
Stevens won't have being old-fashioned as an excuse if I slam him with a sex discrimination lawsuit! I run federal operations for the inventor of the only next-gen credentialing technology the US has in its pipeline. The tech standard is called "smart wallet" by NIST. I also am out more than $ 2.5 million keeping the technology from Kremlin control while Stevens extradited the company now nearly seven years into Kremlin control. It was Stevens' job as chair of multiple committees that oversaw the company to keep my company's platform from Kremlin control, not mine! I am a woman and it appears that Stevens extradited my employer into Russian control to this day simply because of my gender.
The using being old-fashioned...an MCP as an excuse in Stevens' criminal case is building a civil case for me. Women have had the right of suffrage nationally since Stevens turned 6 years-old. Stevens has spent nearly his entire life knowing right from wrong and that if he discriminated based on gender he can and will be sued. His attorneys' alibi in the criminal case can and will be used against Stevens in future civil lawsuits. His attorneys most definitely are mental midgets!
