3 Oct 2008 // The Sacramento Code Enforcement Department has dropped its case against Rep. Laura Richardson after determining that her yard has been adequately cleaned up.

The South Bay Democrat nearly lost the house in May after failing to pay the mortgage for nearly a year.

In July, code enforcement officers were called out because it appeared that someone had broken into the vacant home. The officers boarded up the door and wrote a citation due to the presence of junk, debris and rotting fruit in the yard.

Neighbors in the upscale area have complained about the upkeep of the house.

On Thursday, Ron O'Connor, a code enforcement supervisor, visited the home and found that it had been cleaned up.

"It's a nice-looking house," he said. "We got way more important things to worry about."

O'Connor said that a $250 fine - plus a $150 fine for monthly monitoring - would also be dropped.
