CREW and Coalition Urge Senate to Strengthen STOCK Act

Harry ReidOn March 6, 2012, CREW and other groups wrote to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), urging him to restore critical anti-corruption provisions to the STOCK Act that were stripped from the House-passed legislation.  The Leahy-Cornyn amendment, one of the provisions removed from the House bill, strengthened prosecutors' ability to target public corruption.

While the STOCK Act is not a panacea, CREW and the coalition believe enacting the strong anti-corruption sections in the Senate bill would be a step in the right direction.  We strongly urge Majority Leader Reid to use his leadership to restore these provisions before final passage.
