CREW Urges OMB to Release Report on Electronic Record Keeping

Today, CREW sent a letter to United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Jacob I. Lew asking him to clear for immediate release a report prepared by the Archivist of the United States of suggested changes to existing statutes governing electronic records management.  The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) submitted the report to OMB in December 2010, after being tasked with identifying areas of possible statutory revision.  CREW urged Director Lew to clear the report promptly in view of the dismal state of electronic record keeping in the federal government, and the pressing need to give the Archivist greater statutory authority, as explained in his report.
