Good Government Coalition Supports Digital Accountability and Tranparency Act (DATA)

Data Act chartPassage of the DATA Act would move the government one giant step closer to publishing all of its information about how it spends your money. As things current stand, much information about how the government spends money is not available to the public, and what information is available often is unreliable.

The DATA Act: (1) requires the publication of more types of spending information than is currently released, (2) makes sure the information is published in a format that you can use, and (3) ensures that the information is accurate.

Reliable access to spending information will help journalists, watchdogs, the public, and government officials reduce governmental waste, fraud, and abuse and allow everyone to keep an eye on the bottom line.
