CREW and Open Government Groups Express Concerns Over Dodd-Frank Act
Washington, D.C. - Today, CREW and 10 other government transparency advocates sent a letter to Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) and Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) outlining concerns with provisions in the recently passed Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
One section of this act greatly hinders the public’s access to information at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The recent financial crisis has illustrated the need for greater transparency in our financial system, therefore certain provisions set forth in this act that afford the SEC a new veil of secrecy must be repealed.
