MMS Responds to CREW’s Gulf Oil Spill FOIA Request

Gulf Oil SpillWashington, D.C. - Today CREW received an initial response from the Interior Department’s Minerals Management Service (MMS) to a Freedom of Information Act request CREW and Greenpeace jointly submitted to MMS in May for video fees of the BP oil spill and communications regarding the use of dispersants.

MMS directed CREW to a link on its website containing all video feeds in its possession. MMS noted it was expediting its processing of CREW’s request along with all other requests associated with the BP oil spill, and for all such requests was granting fee waivers. MMS further stated it was overwhelmed by the exceptional volume of requests it has received, including congressional requests for information, and could not state when it would complete its processing of CREW’s request.
