CREW Responds to Claim that DOJ has Declined to Prosecute Christine O’Donnell
In response to the Associated Press’s report that the Department of Justice has declined to prosecute former Delaware Republican senatorial candidate Christine O’Donnell, CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan released the following statement:
“If in fact, it is true, as Ms. O’Donnell claims, that the Department of Justice has declined to prosecute her, Ms. O’Donnell joins the ranks of scandal-ridden politicians the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section has allowed to skate by, despite evidence of criminal wrongdoing. Ms. O’Donnell is in the good company of former Sen. John Ensign (R-NV), former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), and former Sen. Conrad Burns (R-MT), to name a few whose careers tanked following public revelation of their misdeeds.”
