Under the Freedom of Information Act, CREW requests:

  1. Copies of records sufficient to show the amount of money the Trump Organization submitted to the U.S. Treasury on February 26, 2018, that it described publicly as profits from “foreign government patronage at its hotels, including but not limited to any amounts designated as profits from the Trump International Hotel Washington, DC, a GSA-owned building.
  2. Copies of any documents the Trump Organization submitted with the payment.

On February 26, 2018, the Trump Organization announced it had donated to the U.S. Treasury profits resulting from “foreign government patronage” at Trump hotels. To date, however, the Trump Organization has refused to provide any further details about this payment, including its amount. The requested records would provide this information and shed light on the extent to which President Trump has lived up to the promise he made before taking office to donate profits from foreign governments. The requested documents also would shed light on the extent to which President Trump has complied with the Constitution’s foreign emoluments clause.
