Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) sent a letter to Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) requesting that he post all the letters he recently sent to corporations, trade groups and research organizations regarding government regulations. CREW also asked that he post any responses he receives. Rep. Issa who chairs the Oversight and Government Reform Committee has identified greater transparency in the legislative process as one of his top goals for the 112th Congress.
“I agree whole heartedly with Chairman Issa that our government must be more transparent and CREW looks forward to working with him on this important issue,” said CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan. “To that end, it is incumbent on the chairman to post on the committee’s website all the letters that he recently sent to corporations and trade associations requesting feedback on government regulations, as well as any responses he receives. Releasing this information will help further his stated goals, and foster public confidence in his committee.”
