Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) introduced an amendment to the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act to prevent FY 2018 appropriations funding from being “used to purchase, rent, or otherwise acquire goods or services, including hotel rooms, office space, or golf carts from entities that are owned or operated by the President or the immediate family of the President.” Rep. Schiff criticized exploitation of the presidency for personal profit, and said “[t]hat the Trump Organization is profiting off the Secret Service is an abuse of taxpayer money and an improper method of enrichment.”
