President Trump’s trust owns four percent of the property. The pending sale will require the approval of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. In July, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), whose district houses Starrett City, and Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, criticized President Trump for his conflict of interest regarding the property.
