During an interview on Fox & Friends, Ms. Conway stated: “Go buy Ivanka’s stuff is what I would tell you…It’s a wonderful line. I own some of it. I fully – I’m going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today, everybody. You can find it online.” Federal ethics regulations concerning the “use of office for private gain” clearly prohibit any employee from endorsing “any product, service or enterprise.” Specifically, the regulation provide that “[a]n employee shall not use of permit the use of [her] Government position or title or any authority associated with [her] office to endorse any product, service or enterprise. By explicitly endorsing Ivanka Trump’s products, Ms. Conway appeared to have violated these regulations.
