New Mexico Supreme Court dismisses Griffin insurrection appeal
Santa Fe – The New Mexico Supreme Court just dismissed Couy Griffin’s appeal of the decision removing him from office for participating in an insurrection, meaning Judge Mathew’s decision that the January 6th attack on the Capitol was an insurrection and that Mr. Griffin engaged in it stands. Following the ruling, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington Senior Vice President and Chief Counsel Donald Sherman released the following statement:
“This is an affirmation that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment can and should be enforced against all the January 6th insurrectionists who took an oath to defend the Constitution, whether they are current or former officeholders. Today is an important day for our democracy.”
