Following Congressional passage of the Foreign Extortion Prevention Act, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington released the following statement:

“Today Congress made it harder for unethical leaders to build an economy where corruption is the norm by passing the Foreign Extortion Prevention Act (FEPA). CREW was proud to work with a broad bipartisan coalition of leaders to develop and pass FEPA, the first expansion of our country’s bribery and anti-corruption laws in nearly 50 years, and looks forward to working with FEPA’s leaders—Sens. Whitehouse (D-RI) and Tillis (R-NC), and Reps. Jackson Lee (D-TX) and Wilson (R-SC)—to continue fighting against corruption at home and abroad.”
