Qualcomm gave $1 million to pro-Trump dark money group
Technology company Qualcomm gave $1 million to Securing American Greatness, a nonprofit that supported President Trump in the 2024 election and is spending to boost his agenda, according to a corporate document posted online. The contribution, made between September 2024 and March 2025, makes Qualcomm the first known corporate donor to the group–which does not disclose its contributors despite spending millions on elections.
The publication of the donation provides rare insight into the support behind a powerful and rising part of Trump’s political operation.
Securing American Greatness was launched in March 2024 and run by Taylor Budowich, who also ran the pro-Trump super PAC Make America Great Again, Inc. Budowich now serves in the White House as a deputy chief of staff. Securing American Greatness spent $81 million in the election, including $67 million in contributions to Trump-supporting super PACs.
Since Trump’s election, Securing American Greatness has pivoted its spending to supporting Trump’s agenda. In May, the group launched a seven-figure ad campaign across targeted congressional districts praising Trump’s economic agenda. In June, it launched a second ad thanking Republican members of Congress for supporting Trump’s signature tax legislation, the One Big Beautiful Bill, and calling out Democrats who opposed it. Securing American Greatness, now run by Trump campaign alumni, is reportedly poised to defend Republican congressional majorities in the midterm elections.
The corporate document revealing the donation was posted on a page of Qualcomm’s website devoted to investor relations. It details the company’s political activity, including campaign and PAC contributions, as well as dues paid to trade associations. It also lists contributions to section 501(c)(4) organizations, including the million dollar payment to Securing American Greatness, as well as a matching donation to Trump’s inauguration fund, which appeared in an earlier filing by the recipient group.
The Qualcomm document includes activity between September 30, 2024 and March 30, 2025. As a result, it is not clear whether the corporate contribution to Securing American Greatness was made before or after the election. In the days following Trump’s re-election, Qualcomm executives expressed an optimistic outlook on the impact of the incoming administration. However in April, Qualcomm, which develops cellphone chips among other technology, forecast decreases in revenue related to Trump’s tariffs.
