CREW requests DHS, DOJ and DOD records on high-ranking officials alleged to have intentionally defied court orders

On June 24, 2025, Erez Reuveni, former acting deputy director for the Office of Immigration Litigation at the Department of Justice (DOJ), submitted a whistleblower disclosure alleging that high-level officials in the DOJ and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) intentionally defied court orders to speed up the deportations of Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador.
CREW submitted three Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for all relevant communications that were sent or received by officials named in Reuveni’s disclosure at the DOJ, DHS and Department of Defense, including principal associate deputy attorney general Emil Bove who was nominated by President Trump for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Given the Trump administration’s continuous abuse of authority and attacks on due process rights, the American public has an urgent interest in understanding whether these government officials willfully ignored the law and defied court orders by greenlighting unlawful deportation flights to El Salvador.
