Election disinformation and denialism remain an ongoing threat to American democracy as we approach the 2024 election. Recent efforts to cast doubt on election results across the country have even reached election officials in certain states who have attempted to disregard their legal obligation to certify results.

Among those aiming to disrupt the process of election certification in this manner is Fulton County election board member Julia Adams, who The Guardian reported is a member of the election denialist group Election Integrity Network. It is of public interest to know whether other election officials—who have a duty to protect the integrity of our election process—have communicated with external entities and individuals engaged in efforts to cast doubt on election results.

CREW requested records on county election board members in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Requested records include any communications between election officials and organizations engaging in election denialism, such as True the Vote, Restoring Integrity and Trust in Elections, Election Integrity Network, The Heritage Foundation and The Election Research Institute.

The public needs to know whether those who are tasked with election oversight are also involved in efforts to undermine public confidence in elections.
