CREW requests DOJ records on Special Counsel Robert Mueller
Under the Freedom of Information Act, CREW requests: (1) all communications to or from the Justice Management Division (“JMD”) since May 1, 2017, regarding any ethics or conflicts issues arising out of the appointment and work of Special Counsel Robert Mueller; (2) documents sufficient to show the budget for Mr. Mueller’s investigation; and (3) all communications to or from JMD since January 21, 2017 regarding the line of succession at DOJ.
The ongoing investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into the activities of President Trump and his campaign, who was appointed after President Trump fired James Comey as FBI director, have raised concerns that President Trump will attempt to interfere with or terminate the investigation. As a result, attention has focused on the line of succession at DOJ, and how that would play out, as well as the procedures governing the special prosecutor and whether he has sufficient resources to fulfill his mandate. The requested documents will shed light on these issues at a time when the nation needs to know our leaders will follow the rule of law.
