CREW requests documents on Trump legal team Mueller Report preview
Attorney General William Barr granted President Trump’s legal team the opportunity to review the Mueller Report before it was given to Congress or made available to the public. Barr said that he made the report available to the team as “a matter of fairness” because he had decided to make public “what would have otherwise been a confidential report.”
CREW sent a Freedom of Information Act request to the Office of Information Policy at the DOJ requesting all records on the decision to provide Trump’s legal team with the Mueller report. CREW also requested records on any other requests from people named in the Mueller report who were granted early access.
The requested records will help the public evaluate the DOJ’s decision to release the Mueller report early to the Trump legal counsel. These records will also provide insight into whether or not President Trump received different treatment than other people named in the Mueller report.
