CREW submitted comments to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) in response to an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in which the FEC sought public comment on whether the FEC should consider updating its regulations requiring disclaimers on political communications on the internet. A rulemaking would allow the FEC to meet its statutory obligations and support First Amendment values by ensuring that the public is informed about the sources of political communications they receive online. CREW urged the FEC to open a rulemaking as soon as possible to educate itself and the public on these issues.
